Starting where we left off two years ago due to COVID, our objective with our first seminar is to take stock of the evolution of new “green oriented” technologies that in recent years have taken center stage in aviation, particularly focusing on what is emerging on both a national and regional level. We shall then continue to explore further aspects regarding technology and operations during the following encounters. We , therefore, believe it natural to maintain continuity with what has been discussed in previous seminars and with recent publications on Aeropolis’ website, calling Dr. John Alpin -having already been a guest of the Aeronautical Culture Interdisciplinary Seminars – to open the new

cycle of seminars. His intervention shall provide us with an overview of the state of the art of the development of electrical technologies in air transport and their possible applications in the future.

John is presently one of the leading air transport analysts in the world, having long-standing experience in leading roles within the USAF-DoD and as a consultant in various research institutions and companies. He has been for several years an Associate Professor at the Washington University in St. Louis.

As an expert observer he has continued to monitor programs and conditions of businesses within the italian aeronautical sector, with a particular focus on the Campania region companies.

In the latest period he has concentrated his observations and analyses on the evolution of “green” propulsion and systems technology and on how the concept of regional and urban transport is changing. He has published numerous articles regarding his research, many of which have been featured on the Aeropolis website.
